Stevo Love “Movie Producer”

What first pulled you toward filmmaking and storytelling on screen? I always was a big dreamer, and in high school I wrote my first poem called “The Ghetto.” My English teacher got it published, and later in life, after going through so much, I wanted to tell my story about the life I live, which created trust nobody. (That origin story always hooks readers.)

How do you approach a project differently when you’re producing versus directing or acting? (Great way to show range and perspective.) When I’m in producing mode, that’s when I can see the script for what it is and take it to another level, especially when someone else sells me a script that needs a little touch-up. That’s when I’m at my best—you could say I’m the Dr. Dre of the movie game lol. But when I’m acting, I go deep into my many different personalities.

What’s your process for developing a story from idea to final cut? (Script, casting, locations, revisions—all the good stuff.) I come up with a concept from everyday life, then I figure out the problem and the solution.

What has been the most challenging moment on set, and how did you push through it? (Conflict + problem solving = gold.) Actors with attitudes—just deal with it because, at the end of the day, the movie’s gotta get done.

How do you balance creative vision with budget, time, and real-world limitations? (Very real, very relatable.) I just go with what I feel, and at the end of the day, let me do it to death. Used to say, if you believe in it, then your G’s on it.

What makes a performance feel authentic to you—whether you’re directing it or delivering it? (Craft insight that actors love.) When everybody on set gets real quiet and gets into the scene.

How do you choose the right collaborators for a film project? (Casting, crew, chemistry, trust.) When I’m writing in my mind, I can see who would be good for that character. Or, when I’m watching someone else’s film, I’m always looking for diamonds in the rough.

What lessons have you learned about leadership from working on film sets? (Film sets are pressure cookers.) To get what you’re looking for, you gotta speak up because everyone has their own opinion on how they think your film should go.

How do you stay creatively inspired between projects or after rejection? I look at shooting movies, I’m daydreaming, so my brain is loaded. (Honest and human.)

What advice would you give someone trying to break into the film industry today? (Perfect closer, high value.) If you really want to shoot a film, just do it—especially nowadays with all the new technology. Don’t let people tell you what you can’t do; it just means they can’t see your vision.

Do you have any new projects that you are working on? Trust Nobody 4 and my first series, “THE MIL.
