David Lavester Rhodes (Drastic)
Born: December 7, 1983 Birthplace: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Parents: Beverly Rhodes and David Reynolds David Lavester Rhodes, known in the music world as Drastic, has been an entertainer from the very beginning. Described by his mother as an alert, aware, and perceptive baby and toddler, his early performances took place in classrooms, where he was a ‘one-man-band’ captivating his peers. His musical journey further blossomed in middle school with his talents on the string bass and harmonica. However, it was during his freshman year at James Madison University High School that he truly transformed into Drastic. The school cafeteria became his stage, where he showcased his beats, rapping, and battle abilities. This passion seamlessly transitioned to well-known venues such as the Miramar Theater, the Rave, Club Leoric, Club Zarkos, Diamonds, and more. This marked the start of Drastic’s enduring commitment to the Milwaukee hip hop scene.
In 2004, two years after graduating high school, Drastic co-founded Militia Minded Records with his high school friend Tristan. This local venture evolved into the regional independent label, the Midwest Alliance, which they also co-founded. In 2021, Drastic and his older brother Jevoni “J. Billa” Rhodes co-founded Bev Boyz, named after their mother.
They have already released an album, “Our Piece of Art,” with more projects on the horizon. Drastic remains an active supporter and artist/producer of Gunz Down Productions, a company founded by J. Billa. Among the many artists associated with this production company are Chadoe, Rodney Poe, Funk, Toula, Respect, and Milt G.
Drastic is also a member of Big Hits Entertainment and an associate of HHF (Hip Hop Fraternity), including the Milwaukee chapter, along with Trust the Process and Rap A Lot Midwest.
